Material Measurement Techniques

The dielectric properties (permittivity, loss) of insulating materials play an important role in microwave circuit and component design.

These parameters vary with frequency and must be determined experimentally in dedicated test fixtures. Increasing requirements on the accuracy of the measured material parameters lead to the development of new test setups.

The Institute of Radio Frequency Technology designed different test fixtures for the determination of dielectric properties at frequencies ranging from 100 MHz to 100 GHz, such as fixtures based on strip-line, co-axial resonator, and dielectric image-guide resonator.
